I am fundraising in memory of my father, John H. Stearns, Jr., 1934-2009. This plaque on the shoulder of Burnt Mountain on Section 11 reads:  "Mr. Catamount Trail" - Trail Chief, Tour Leader, End to End Skier, Master Bridge Builder, Board Chairman, Treasurer. We will keep your dream alive. 2009.

Having become more active with the CTA as a Trail Chief, Committee Member and skier in the past few years I recognize just what a valuable resource John helped to create and one that we must treasure and protect. Please help keep John's dream alive by making a donation to the Vermont Backcountry Challenge. And join us for a one day tour on February 29, 2020 as we ski Section 11 and pay a visit to John and his plaque. Thank you.

The Vermont Backcountry Challenge is an opportunity to give back to the backcountry community here in Vermont. The CTA has spent the last 35+ years working to protect our wild spaces, make possible amazing outdoor winter experiences, and expand access to the outdoors for all communities. This work enhances the lives of every person in Vermont and is a large part of why Vermont is such a wonderful place to spend time.
