Living in Vermont where backcountry skiing usually takes some summer time work, and where land use is not as simple as it is out west, having an organization to advocate with the state, to promote backcountry skiing and be a central resource for the backcountry skiing community is invaluable. Participating in this fundraiser allows me to support the CTA in their efforts!

I've never done a 10k day in Vermont before though I've done a little over 100 10K days elsewhere. I figured rather than shoot small I wanted to go big with 15k! I'd like to raise $300 for the CTA which works out to be 2 cents per foot climbed! This 15K effort comes with a few caveats - all human powered (no lifts or cars), no skimo gear (it's more fun on real skis anyways!), all in VT, and no repeating skin tracks or runs. I have some ideas for a route... But you'll have to follow along to see were I end up! @airandrice on Instagram

The Vermont Backcountry Challenge is an opportunity to give back to the backcountry community here in Vermont. The CTA has spent the last 35+ years working to protect our wild spaces, make possible amazing outdoor winter experiences, and expand access to the outdoors for all communities. This work enhances the lives of every person in Vermont and is a large part of why Vermont is such a wonderful place to spend time. 

​It's for these reasons, and more, we need you to get involved, to fundraise, to donate, and to challenge yourself. Because when we work together amazing things happen!
